Chidinma Ekile, popularly known by her stage name, Chidimma, is an Imo state indigene, but born in Ketu, Lagos State Nigeria.
Chidimma’s parents are both native of Imo State. They have seven children, out of which Chidimma is the sixth.
had her primary education in Ketu, Lagos. She started her secondary
school also in Ketu but later concluded it in Ikorodu when her family
left Ketu to Ikorodu.
After her secondary Education, Chidimma gained admission into the University of Lagos where she studied Sociology.
Chidimma’s talent as a musician manifested as a child when she was
barely 6 years old. Upon growing up, she identified with her church’s
choir at 10 years.
growing up, Chidimma worked as a business promoter, later she was
auditioned for the third season of MTN’s Project Fame West Africa,
and later emerged as a winner.
actually started her music career when she ventured into the third
edition of Project Fame West Africa in the year 2010. She then
approached the Ultima Studios, the venue for the show’s 2010 Lagos
auditions. She was among over 7,000 contestants who went to
their talents that year. Her success brought her to the Fame Academy
round together with 17 other contestants. For 10 weeks, Chidinma and the
other contestants were trained by music
professionals. During the
training, they were taught choreography and were made to pass through
several rehearsal drills. On September 26, 2010, Chidinma became the
winner of the competition, winning several prizes including
million, a 2011 Toyota RAV4, and an album production deal. In May 2013,
MTN Nigeria, signed an endorsement contract with Chidimma.
